The book is devoted to jewelry art of the second half of the 19th - beginning of the (early) 20th century. It represents the works of best gold and silversmiths of the Russian Empire that are kept in the State Historical Museum. These are true masterpieces which belonged to the royal family, memorial items and numerous objects of mass production created in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The catalog structure corresponds to three main thematic directions of jewelry schools in Moscow and St. Petersburg: applied arts, Church utensils and so-called regimental silver.
